In the last post, I wrote about how one issue of me not being active on Instagram for almost a year is because I busted the last Chrissy head I used (Chrissy 3.0, between the National Banana Day/National Cat Lady post/pics taken on April 16, 2023 and the Seattle Trip/pics taken on April 29, 2024). Chrissy fell so many times in the photo/video where Derek grabs Chrissy’s bare butt.

The place I stayed at has this magnificent view of the Space Needle from the rooftop, but it was raining almost the whole time I was there. The final night of my stay, it wasn’t raining but it was so windy that it knocked Chrissy (and Derek) over so many times. They fell on their faces on the wooden table.
The Memorial Day Carwash shoot, which was posted in May 2024, was actually done in March, before the Seattle trip, so Chrissy’s face was still okay.

March 9 is Barbie’s birthday. In honor of the doll that started it all (in my world anyway), I’d give a breakdown of the many Chrissy heads I’ve acquired, modified, and used over the years.
Unlike Barbie (and Ken and other vinyl dolls of their kind), the base of “action figure” head sculpts have a different color from their finished skin tone. This is from layers of airbrush paint, chalk pastel, and other substances. This means there’s a high chance that if those layers flaked off or chipped away due to pressure, rubbing, or falling, the vinyl color would peek through, resulting in discoloration.
Do I wish these heads were more like Barbie in that the color of the mold is the doll’s skintone? Yes. That’d make repainting so much easier. But life’s not fair.
For comparison, the photos include one of my Hot Toys original Chris Redfield heads that hasn’t been modified. I was also able to find some never-before-seen archival photos of some of the eras.
Unpainted Chris Redfield Head

I bought this head on eBay, but it’s been so long that eBay no longer has the purchase record. I must have had more than one because I distinctly remember purchasing an airbrush and chalk pastel and then trying to paint one of them. It was horrible.
At one point, I tried to sell this remaining one, but there wasn’t any taker. I then used it to experiment, including shaving off the “hair” to find out its texture and to see how he’d look like bald.
Chris Redfield Head from an Unofficial Statue

For hours I tried to find photos of this Chris Redfield statue. I purchased this when I was in Jakarta, Indonesia sometime in 2012 when I first started getting into dolls. The only thing that’s removable was the head and it was probably from a mold they made from the Hot Toys one.
The body that got me into dolls was the almost-seamless figure from CMToys. The only visible seam is in the crotch area, which is a bit weird. Seamless TBLeague/Phicen male figures wouldn’t come out till 2016, so I had to make do.
Unfortunately, the inner peg of this headsculpt isn’t compatible with CMToys bodies. It’s also not removable. So, the head has been languishing in my collection.
Keep reading to find out more about CMToys figures.
Unofficial, but Painted Chris Redfield Head

The original Chris Redfield from Hot Toys is now a collector’s item, with mint-condition figures being in the USD 1,000 range. It’s been rarer and rarer to find good condition heads.
So, in 2016, I purchased this unofficial Chris Redfield head. One thing that’s noticeable is how narrow the head is. You could also tell it’s a bootleg from the less-detailed eyebrows and the smoother, less freckly face. Other than that, the paintjob is great. Or at least better than I could ever muster.
Maybe I’ll modify this one as a Chrissy 4.0B and use him as a stand-in when I take photos outdoors.
Unofficial, Modified Chris Redfield Head

Speaking of stand-ins, I decided to shave the vinyl hair of this head and give him a septum ring. I must’ve also tried to add some color onto the face using chalk pastel, but of course, I was unsuccessful.
This could possibly be sometime in 2016. I was experimenting with giving Chrissy facial piercings. I wore a (fake) septum ring in 2011 until 2013 and I thought I’d give Chrissy one too. Let’s just say I’m glad the Dollsexposed variations of Chrissy don’t have septum rings.
Chrissy 1.0: Original Hot Toys Chris Redfield Head, Modified (2012-2017)

Ah, memories!
This was my first-ever original Hot Toys Chris Redfield head. I got him sometime in early 2012 and the reason he lasted up until 2017 was because he was stored away. In reality, he was only used for about a year (2012 and a few months in 2013, one day in 2015, and then two months in 2017).
I was living in Berkeley when I started my love affair. This is the CMToys body I mentioned earlier. The original Hot Toys James Franco head was Chrissy’s first lover, but that time, Chrissy wasn’t Chrissy. His name was Kemnebi and this was set in a parallel universe ancient Egypt. I surgically took out the silicone part in the crotch area and used oven-baked clay to make the genitals. Even then, I’d already wanted him to have a smaller-than-average dick.
(These photos make me look like Sid from Toy Story.)
I resurrected Kemnebi in a post with the TBLeague Anubis figure, a fantasy that was stemmed out of a past life, it seems.
When I moved to Los Angeles in 2014, the doll stuff was put in the backburner. He came out again (on the CMToy body) as an extra (how unglamorous!) in 2015. It wasn’t until Phicen/TBLeague came out with the M30 body in 2016 that I popped back that head and the new journey began.
In 2017, I decided I want a superfemme Chris Redfield. I painted his hair hot pink.
If you look at the photos below, the scruff and five-o’clock shadow on Chrissy’s face in the first images aren’t noticeable. That’s because I hadn’t altered them. In the following photos with Leon Kennedy (Chrissy’s second lover, or first lover in the Dollsexposed universe), the scruff appears darker and his lips are more pinkish/plum. I used chalk pastel to add the colors.
At one point, I must’ve tried to relighten the scruff but messed it up, and that’s how Chrissy 1.0 looks the way he is right now. I cut the pink hair because the paint had chipped and I wanted a new and more permanent hairstyle.
But then I abandoned the project because of how much I’d messed up the face paint.
I can’t remember why Chrissy 1.0 has the “diamond” stud earring, other than I must’ve also glued it on as an experiment.
Chrissy 2.0: Original Hot Toys Chris Redfield Head, Modified (2020-2023)

In my professional life, I photograph real humans. When I moved to Los Angeles in 2014, I began taking clients.
2020 came and brought Covid-19 with it. I’d started working in a different field but missed photography.
Wonder Woman 1984 was also supposed to be released that year, so I created Wonder Dude, shot promo photos and even a complete story with Matt and Takeshi.
In the story, Chrissy/Wonder Dude foils a robbery attack at Takeshi’s Lick It! ice cream parlor. But Takeshi, seeing how sexy Wonder Dude is, wishes (just like in Wonder Woman 1984 storyline with Maxwell Lord) to see Wonder Dude naked.
Let’s just say Takeshi gets his wishes, and more…
In the photos, you can see Wonder Dude has two stud earrings. I hadn’t yet wanted to pierce his ear, so I superglued the rhinestones.
2020 was also the year when Chrissy received his name and a proper storyline with Matt.
It wasn’t until I moved to Pasadena in 2023 that I restarted the project and opened an Instagram account called toyphotostudio. Meta suspended and closed the account and I lost everything, including this photo with Matt for National Laundry Day/National Husband Appreciation Day.
This was then remade in the hardcore “The Plumber & the Sissy (National Limerick Day)” post.

I didn’t want to paint Chrissy’s hair pink the way I did with Chrissy 1.0. Instead, I “shaved” the vinyl hair, gave him an undercut hairstyle, and installed the hot pink hair from acrylic yarn.
The horse was out of the gate at this point, so I pierced his ear.
I got a lot of mileage from Chrissy 2.0, but eventually had to retire him because of the chipped nose paint.
Chrissy 3.0: Original Hot Toys Chris Redfield Head, Modified (2023-2024)

Sometimes I wish I didn’t have to modify Chrissy’s head. But that’s what makes him unique.
After the retirement of Chrissy 2.0, I took another Hoy Toys original Chris Redfield head and did the same modification: shaved off the vinyl hair, gave him an undercut, installed acrylic yarn hair in hot pink, and pierced his ear.
Just like Chrissy 2.0, Chrissy 3.0’s mileage was also a year. If I hadn’t chipped his nose paint in Seattle, I would’ve still used him.
The splotches on his face are due to my attempts to repaint him. I tried just to paint the nose. Didn’t work. Then I tried to airbrush his face. That was also a fail.
So, after a year, I had to retire him.
Chrissy 4.0: Original Hot Toys Chris Redfield Head, Modified (2025-)

In “The Bitch is Back (Hallelujah!)” post, I wrote about how this head took months to finish due to several factors.
As much as I loved keeping the dark “hair” on the sides and back, I wanted to give Chrissy an even more feminine look. Hence, the pink sides and back.
The hair is now puffier, because well, it has more hair. I cut the hair on Chrissy 2.0 and Chrissy 3.0 after installing it and used water-based glue to style it and lock it in place.

For Chrissy 4.0, I wanted more freedom when styling his hair, so I left the hair as is. In the photos, his hair is tucked under. I didn’t use any product like gel or glue.
Do I like it? It’s growing on me. It does look like swirly icing on a cupcake. It reminds me of Patsy Stone’s bouffant or even, in a more extreme way, Fred’s hair in Drop Dead Fred (Universal, 1991). I saw this movie when I was a kid in Jakarta. It was on broadcast TV. Thinking about it, I was surprised this scene wasn’t censored. But this was back in the 90s before Islamism became rampant. I swear, some days I’m worried Indonesia would turn into Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Iran under the Ayatollah, or worse: Afghanistan under the Taliban.
And of course someone made a Rule 34 based on this scene.
