Aubrey lets the two men chat. He was already apprehensive about coming to Lick It, but trigger after trigger now assaults his psyche. He takes a deep breath, closes his eyes, and counts to ten. It's a trick his psychiatrist taught him to calm himself down. He's about to do a fourth round of one-to-ten when he opens his eyes. An idea forms in his head. He casually turns around. When he sees Takeshi and Marcus still talking and not paying attention to him, he grabs his phone and takes several photos of the bulletin board. "Babe, you ready to go?" Marcus says. "Uh, yeah... Yeah," Aubrey says. "Takeshi was just telling me about the ice cream social. Too bad we'll be in Aspen." "Aw, that's right, our little annual tradition," Aubrey holds Marcus's hand. "We have a cabin there. It's nothing special. Five bedrooms, indoor heated pool. But I'm sure the uh... ice cream social will be just as amazing." It's Aubrey's turn to suppress a laugh when he sees Takeshi's right eye twitch with envy. "But we'll drop by after the trip, won't we, babe?" Marcus says. "We'll see," Aubrey smiles. "Bye, Takeshi. And good luck with the event." "Thank you," Takeshi says. "And please come again." Takeshi lets a sigh of relief as Marcus and Aubrey leave the store. He wants to call Manu, but he knows his boyfriend's still busy teaching a class. He wants to call Chrissy and Matt but decides not to. Why would they want to hear news about Aubrey? It'd just ruin their day. Good thing a group of customers comes into the store. At least he can busy himself while he waits for Manu to text him. ๐Ÿง๐Ÿจ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿจ๐Ÿง #dollsexposed

It was bad enough that Takeshi mentioned Matt's name (he hopes Takeshi didn't notice his face crack), now he has to be confronted by the two places that kicked him out when he threw the drink at Matt that Halloween party. First it was Wade's sanctuary ranch. He'd had a sweet deal at the ranch, promising Wade the ranch would get a cut from the CBD business once it started selling. But a week after the Halloween fight, Wade canceled the contract. He cited how Aubrey had failed to meet the delivery deadline in addition to his behavior at the Halloween party. Aubrey looks away, but his gaze falls on the Gar's Gym poster. He winces. There's that pink-haired slut in the poster. "Whatcha doin'?" Marcus says, startling him. He's holding a bowl of ice cream with two scoops of chocolate and strawberry ice cream. "Oh, just looking at the bulletin board." "Hey, didn't you use to rent a place at that ranch?" "Yeah," Aubrey winces. "I'm glad I no longer have to." With Marcus's help, Aubrey was able to secure not only a lab but also some funding to start up his CBD business. "Oh, the ranch owner's Jewish," Marcus says. "Huh? What made you say that?" Marcus points at the logo of Life Sanctuary Ranch. "That dot over the 'i' in 'Life.' That's Hebrew for Chai. Which also means 'Life.'" "Whoa," Takeshi says. "I didn't know that, but yeah, Wade's Jewish." "I've a lot of Jewish clients," Marcus says. "One of them always wears a gold necklace with that pendant. I asked her what that meant and she told me. That's how I know. And that's such a nice way to incorporate it in the logo." "Our friend designed it," Takeshi says. "Chrissy. You met him at the party." "Oh, yeah! Bob's Burgers. Marshmallow." "That's... interesting," Aubrey says. ๐Ÿง๐Ÿจ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿจ๐Ÿง #dollsexposed

Aubrey was just propping him up to compare him to Marcus. "It's not a competition," Marcus says. "Columbia's MBA is just as good." "I guess," Aubrey shrugs. "I love what you've done with the place. The last time I was here, it was a bit shabby. Dollar General chairs." "Dollar Tree," Takeshi grits his teeth. "Yes, business has been great. We were able to refurbish a bit, get some nice custom furniture pieces. Install new floor. Actually, the floor was done by BILT. You know BILT, right, Aubrey? Matt's company?" Takeshi suppresses a giggle as he notices a glimpse of agitation in Aubrey's face with the mere mention of Matt's name. "Well, I love the decor," Marcus says. "Babe, I should get you a pink Birkin." Aubrey scoffs. "I loathe that color." Takeshi knows exactly why Aubrey said that with such disgust. "I'm surprised you're even wearing a color today." "Marcus gave me this Birkin, and also a red one. He convinced me to wear more colors. At least with accessories." Takeshi watches in awe as Aubrey gives Marcus a kiss. He hates to say it but Aubrey does look in love.
