Do you know how difficult it is to find naked Asian men in mainstream comic books? We searched high and low for some Asian male nudity to celebrate Lunar New Year, and we hope Reiki Warriors won’t disappoint.
Granted, the sole Asian male character looks caricaturish borderline offensive especially when compared to others in the book, but until The Good Asian gives us good nudity, we’re stuck with this one.
Reiki Warriors was created by Daerick Gross. We’ve featured his works during Anne Rice August. Even though Gross didn’t write or draw this one, he still acted as the creative director.
Also, this book makes me wish that horrible Shang-Chi adaptation had used more nudity (and cock rings).
The blurb:
In these eight episodes, the six members of the just-formed Reiki Warrriors had each experienced incidents in their personal lives involving mysterious, ornate rings. The rings were of different sizes and worn various ways by different people. Mr. No fought over a stolen finger ring; She-Bat battled for a a bracelet, Rhesus was given a leg-band; Ethereal Black sensed a magic in a toe-ring; Soliloquy Jones possesses a crown-ring; and Squamus found thebody of a man who had been “de-sexed” to obtain the ring he wore.
The six came independently to their teacher and trainer, Sifu, who took the two rings in their possession to study. Astral-projecting himself into the mystic plane, he learns that the rings pose a catastrophic threat if worn by a single individual.
Preparing for the worse, Sifu works his students into a team, building their strengths, enforcing compatibility; while stripping them of false dignities, making them a singular unit—a family—a close family.
The training may have been too intense and too strenuous, for the stress has opened a riff between Rhesus and Mr. No, as we move into this issue’s story.
