What is it with fanboys and fangirls that makes them so uncomfortable to see a penis in a goddamn comic book? Is it sexism and “casual” misogyny caused by decades of degrading women by making them wear ridiculously skimpy outfits?
When the first book of Batman: Damned (written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Lee Bermejo) came out in September 2018, it received quite the flack for showing Bruce’s dick (and I’m not talking about his sidekick Richard/the first Robin).
After being shot at, diving into Gotham River’s icy water, and having an (unfortunately unsexy) encounter with DC’s leading bi guy John Constantine, Bruce decides to strip off his Batman suit all the way from the Batmobile to the Batsuit Repository.
I suppose Alfred’ll be picking up all that mess later.
And then, under the silhouette, you can see the outline of Bruce’s proud phallus, just juicily swinging there.
Batman is 6’2″ and his flaccid cock looks to be about… six inches?
Seriously, the book shouldn’t be called Batman: Damned. It’s should’ve been Daaamn, Batman!
However, thanks to the aforementioned fanboys and fangirls and their distaste for penises, only early digital copies and some 115,000 prints have the uncensored version. The later releases (including the TPB) show the panels with a completely dark crotch. DC chose to censor it, despite the book being published under DC Black Label, the mature imprint of DC Comics.
The good news is: we have the nudes!
And to celebrate the opening of our Nude Men in Comic Books part of Dollsexposed and Bruce Wayne’s birthday (April 7), here’s Batman in his birthday suit.
